We are very sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. Cynthia and I would like to express our most sincere condolences to all his children, relatives, friends and say that we share in your grief. We remember him for his affable and pleasant personality, a friend and intrepid hiking companion. We trekked together on several church youth back packing hikes sharing the experience of sore feet, aching muscles, steep passes and perspiration and the elation of reaching destinations. Quiet moments appreciating magnificent mountain views, eye-catching scenery were special and are among some of our finest memories. On the trail, Bob stayed back with first time hikers lending any assistance. He was quick to encourage and bolster when a positive word was needed and he made a difference. Seemed like he was always the first one up and at ‘em in the morning, waiting with a pot of freshly brewed coffee. He was a
gem! On one excursion, high-up in a secluded valley, Bob and I decided to do a quick, in our birthday suit plunge into an icy alpine lake. After jumping in, our haste to get out became a predicament by the untimely passing of three lady hikers. When out of sight, we
scrambled out, dressed and headed for the warmth of sunshine. Chagrined we were, but what a wonderful refreshing moment it was. Bob was steadfast In his faith and was a loyal and dedicated church member. He was active in congregational serving in many different capacities. In our public speaking organization, his presentations were well prepared, articulate and thought provoking. He left a notable absence when he departed for his new life in B.C. He had a passion for art and music and we were happy for him when he decided to pursue studies at the Alberta College of Art. Bob was an outstanding example to all who knew him.

I am Reading this on behalf on Bobs younger brother Allan

Bob left home when I was 8 yrs old he had, to move out of home because of the horrific childhood he had endured under our fathers brutal home life he moved into our aunties home and was given shelter there later moving overseas after his apprenticeship. He did later forgive his father showing what a strong character he had.

My memories of Bob (or Bobby as we called him then) are hazy but I remember him as always being a gentle softly spoken and good natured person never changing.

He return to Australia the 1st time to see our brother Jim who was leaving us with cancer. The years drifted away it was if there was no missing years. A sad but joyous time. He traveled around with Jim spent as much time as they could together before Jimmy got worse.

The 2nd time he came out to see Edith our youngest sister who also was leaving us with cancer. He stayed with us as he went about seeing everyone.

Staying with us he was still the same soft spoken man wanting to enjoy his walks, painting. Photography, reading and loving all the sites. Traveling all around OZ and attending 2 weddings in that time as well

In 2018 he came out again and we knew deep down this would be the last time he was frail not wanting to excise like he did before just catching up.

So to my dear brother you have led a good life and you have known where you are going. Catch up with our Mum Brother, Sister give them all hugs & kisses enjoy your new life

Love from your brother Allan and all my family and friends here in Australia.

Dearest friend…an inspiration of faith, art and friendship. Bob and I met one another on my sabbatical in 1998, when I joined him for a third year program at ACAD. He was a marvelous artist and I commissioned him to paint several pieces that will forever be treasured by me and by my family. We lifted one another up over the years, sharing lively and interesting conversations. We shared many hikes, feasts and even a night out dancing. Thank you, Bob, for your tremendous kindness and friendship over these years. I will go on to cherish you, forever and always. Kath

My substitute father. Bob opened his arms and doors for me when I needed a home, until I could move out onto my own. At my wedding, he stepped in to the father of the bride role. He was alway cheerful and easy to laugh with, such a wonderful man and father. My condolences to all of the family.
