March 10, 1954 – January 18, 2018
Rob is survived by his ever-loving wife Ruth, his son Jeff, his daughter Alison and her husband Colin, and two granddaughters, Ilyena, age four, and Gwyneth, age two. Also, his stepdaughter Alicia and husband Scott, granddaughters Rachel, age 16, and Naomi, age 13, and his brother Jamie, his niece Katie and her partner Robin, along with many nephews he loved to party with and his brother-in-law Jim, who he thought the world of, and his many nieces. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws June, Pat, Lynn, Donna and Elke, and brother-in-law Jim. He is predeceased by his mother Mandie (2010) and father Bill (2013).
Rob was born in Melville, Saskatchewan, just outside of Saskatoon. He wasn’t quite five years of age before moving to Surrey, B.C., but had special memories of helping his Grandfather bailing hay on the farm and was very proud of himself. He also had two Aunts who were nuns, and was so proud to walk down the street between them while holding their hands.
Through the years Rob also enjoyed skiing with his children, playing golf with his Dad and friends, and watching and attending many sports games.
Rob was a big fan of football and enjoyed playing his weekly picks. This is how I met the man of my dreams at the Lennox pub downtown Vancouver. He was a Godsend. We were blessed with 18 soulful years together filled with many magical moments, including our awesome travel vacations. He was my best friend and soul mate.
Rob worked at CT Control Temp as a financial controller since 1998, until he became disabled with rheumatoid arthritis in 2014. He felt like they were his second family and an amazing group of people and friends who gave him their moral support. We so much enjoyed the box seats at various sports events and the annual and always special Christmas parties at the Metropolitan Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
Rest in peace my Sweetheart, until we meet again. Love you for eternity. xo
Your loving Sweetie-pie,
Ruth xoxo
P.S. An extra special thanks to my nephew Bob Rennie for singing and playing guitar at our wedding and also at Rob’s memorial service. He’s always touched our hearts.
