Shirley Joe Chan born in Wellington, Lower Hutt, New Zealand on March 24, 1939, sadly passed away on February 23, 2021 at Burnaby General Hospital in British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Shirley was a daughter of Frances and Sue Ngan Joe, and sister of Nancy, George, Tom, Margaret, Peter, and Victor. Her husband Peter Kwong Hin Chan, married for 58 years, was by her side when she passed. Shirley was a mother and mother-in-law to Tracy and Neil, Vickie and Glenn, proud Grandmother to Jessica and Connor.
Shirley’s family meant the world to her and they are saddened with her loss. Family and home were always the most important thing to Shirley. Home is where the heart is and Shirley showed her heart through her cooking and feeding her family. In her professional career, she fed countless numbers of people in New Zealand and Canada. She could cook anything and her food was like getting a big hug from her.
She always told us to tell the people you love that you love them, and always say hello and goodbye. We all say “Love you Shirley, Mom, Pau Pau.” Goodbye until we meet again.
