Susana was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who valued family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas of 42 years and brothers, Lai Chor and Tat Shing; and survived by her sister So Lan (Andy), children Darryl (Catty), Michael (Kitty), Grace (Michael), and Lynden (Amy), grandchildren Christian, Maya, Janice, Markus, Lukas, Mackenzie, and Keyera and her many nieces and nephews.
Born in China, Susana made the trek to Vancouver in 1964 to marry Thomas, and by 1972, they had four children under the age of 6. Mom worked very hard to be the best wife and mother to her family while employed as a kitchen supervisor at Canadian Pacific Hotels. Due to her children’s huge appetite for authentic Toishan food and delicious desserts, she enjoyed honing her culinary and baking skills. Susana also enjoyed the company of close friends.
When Dad passed away, Susana continued to travel and spend quality time with her family, and grandchildren, and friends. Through her words of wisdom and acts of kindness, her children and grandchildren learned to be persistent and hardworking, to be kind and compassionate, to never be hungry, but most importantly, that family is everything. Susana will be forever loved and never forgotten.
