It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lam Thanh Truoc, a loving father, brother, and grandfather. Ba, as he was affectionately referred to in the family, passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital on 3 March 2024. He was surrounded by his family that included his children and grandchildren.
Ba was born in the Vietnamese province of Long An on 10 September 1938 to Lam Van Quoi (father) and Do Thì Trâm (mother). His responsibilities to care for his family began early after his parents died young leaving him and his siblings (his sister Lam Thanh Nguyet and two brothers Lam Thanh Tam and Lam Thanh Van) as orphans. He rose to his responsibilities as an older brother and earned money to ensure the family’s survival in any way that he could which included Muay Thai boxing for money and starting a variety of businesses including making glasses in the market. Throughout his life, he gave everything he earned to his family which allowed his children and sister to move to Canada and the United States. After immigrating to Canada, he continued to send money to help his family in Vietnam for the rest of his life.
Despite the hardship of his life, which included surviving injury from a mine in the Vietnam War, Ba always had a smile. He is remembered for his generous and gentle spirit by his surviving family: Lam Thanh Van (brother), Lam Thanh Thuy (daughter) Lam Thanh Phong (son), Lam Thanh Vu (son), Lam Thanh Tuan (son), Lam Leona (granddaughter), Lam Tiffany (granddaughter), Lam Christina (granddaughter), Dinh Darrel (grandson), Dinh Darren (grandson), Dinh Connor (great grandson) and Dinh Avery (great granddaughter).
Ba is fondly remembered by his brother, children and grandchildren
