Timothy Duncan Hamilton Findlay passed away peacefully on Dec 29, 2024 in Burnaby BC. Tim was born on Nov 15, 1939 in Carleton Place Ontario. He is survived by his children Thomas, Casey and Katie, and their families and loved ones including grandchildren Matthew, Emma, Phoebe and Liam and many nieces and nephews.
Tim was one of the last of his generation connected to the Findlay Foundry, the award-winning stove works that his extended family founded and ran in Carleton Place.
He is predeceased by his siblings David, Michael and Sheila. His beloved sister Leigh passed away on January 8th of this year.
Tim was a journalist, broadcaster and entrepreneur who lived in Ontario, with long happy periods in Ruthven and Windsor, New Zealand and Vancouver. He was an inveterate, creative scribbler who filled countless notebooks with beautiful phrases and story ideas. Tim loved to tell stories, write, laugh at the Marx Brothers and watch the Triple Crown. He often compared himself to Walter Mitty, prone to daydreams and letting his imagination drift him away.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Burnaby General Hospital for their care.
A Memorial gathering for Tim will be held on February 7 at 1pm, in the Celebration Hall at Mountain View Cemetery, 5455 Fraser St. Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Indian Residential School Survivor Society.
