Tsugio "Bill" Yoshida

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Ritsuko and his children; daughter Linda and son Ben (Cathy). Forever cherished by his granddaughter Claire. Fondly remembered by the Co family: Casper, Carlin, Kristen and Celine.

Bill was born on January 20, 1932, in Ucluelet, BC. In 1942, at the age of 10, he, along with his family and thousands of Canadian citizens of Japanese descent, was interned. They were transferred to Hastings Park then to Lemon Creek, BC. In 1946, he relocated to Wakayama, Japan before he returned to Canada in 1952.

He met Ritsuko in 1958 and following their marriage in 1962 they moved to Vancouver where they lived for more than 50 years. They both retired in 1994 and enjoyed a long retirement together where they enjoyed many happy years spending time with their beloved granddaughter.

Ritsuko was Bill’s rock and steadfast companion and caregiver for more than 15 years following a stroke in 2008. In 2015, they moved to Delta to live with their son and his family.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 12:30 pm, 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, British Columbia. And witness cremation will follow at Vancouver Crematorium at 3 pm.
