Bill grew up in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Virginia Waters, UK as his family moved for his father’s job with Trans Canada Airlines. The family returned to Canada in the 1960’s where he attended Mount Royal High School in Montreal, then moved to London Ontario to attend Huron College and Western University where he earned a degree in Psychology in 1974.
After university, Bill was drawn back to his roots on the West Coast when his parents retired here, and for the outdoor lifestyle. He enjoyed fly fishing with his father at Pinaus Lake in the Interior. He worked at Shaw Cable but found his passion working in landscaping and building waterfall features with the team at Busy Bee Gardening. Bill was a member of the Inside Edge Ski Club where he enjoyed weekends camping, cycling and hiking with friends. He loved dogs! There were many stories about the dogs in his life starting with ‘Tiny’ at a young age. Bill was also a member of the British X Servicemen’s Club in Vancouver where he enjoyed many good times. He was proud to be Canadian, born in Victoria.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved family, mother Patricia, father William Sr., brother John and cousin Sue. He leaves behind his dear friend Sheila, sister-in-law Bonnie, nephews Ian and Andrew and families in Ontario, as well as many friends in Vancouver.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held in the Gallery at the Vancouver East Cultural Center, 1895 Venables St., Vancouver on Saturday June 21 from 5 - 8 pm.
