Wilma Lyle Young, aged 94, passed away peacefully in Vancouver on November 24, 2019. She was born February 6, 1925 in Calgary Alberta to William and Gertrude Watson. Lyle is survived by her loving husband, Harrison Young; her three sons and their wives; Michael (Valerie), David (Tracey) and Jonathan (Ginette); grandchildren Bronwyn, Colin, Devon, Adelle, Evelyne and Marcus; and her great grandchild Valentina.
Mom will always be the heart of the Young Family. She was born of a naturally generous spirit and the energy to share it with everyone. She also consistently expressed a positive attitude right up until the final days of her life. Coming from a home of four daughters to make a home with four men would have been a significant challenge and we will always be aware of the extraordinary gift of love she gave us and will do our best to share it with others.
Beyond her gifts as a devoted mother and wife, Lyle was a talented woman. She expressed a passion for music through her singing, was a fabulous doubles tennis partner even at the age of 80, crafted beautiful pottery to share with many, and treated her garden like a fourth child. Always an exceptional host and social planner, Lyle also enjoyed a quality in her friendships that is rare. Thanks to Mom, the Young family home was always filled with good people.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Braddan Private Hospital for taking very good care of our Mom.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
