

He served in the Army during World War II. James drove school bus for 17 years and also worked at Boehm’s Grocery in Amboy. He started work for Clark County Public Works in January of 1969 as Maintenance Man I and retired in December of 1983 as Highway Maintenance Foreman II.
James served as treasurer at Yacolt Evangelical Free Church for several years. He was active in the Grange and served as State Grange Deputy Master for many years and was also a Commissioner in Fire District #10, Cemetery Commissioner for District #4 as well as a volunteer firefighter. He enjoyed raising Polled Herefords and liked to read.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan; sister, Elinor Collins; brother, Lester (Carol) Courtney; stepdaughter Carol (Lynn) Wiley; grandchildren, Jeff (Angie) Haxby, Angela (Mark) Congdon, Janelle and Amy Wiley; six great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeraldine; his twin daughters, Karen Haxby and Sharon Raymond and his grandson, Paul Warren.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 17 at 1:00pm at Yacolt Evangelical Free Community Church. No flowers please…allergies.
