March 10, 1914 - March 25, 2012
On March 10, 1914, Josephine was born to Anna M. and John Frank Merevantz of Pittsburg, PA., joining sisters Mary, Viola, and brother John. The family moved west, settling in Portland, OR. Josephine, who preferred “Jo”, graduated from Jefferson High School and completed her education earning a degree at the Gradwohl School of Medical Technology in St. Louis, Mo. Returning to the northwest, she met and married Laurence R. “Larry” Roberts on July 11, 1936. They made their home in Vancouver, WA. where Larry owned and operated service stations. They had a daughter, Nancy and a son Gerry. They also welcomed into their home their niece Elizabeth “Beth” Stewart.
Jo was a devoted wife and mother, as well as, an extraordinarily talented seamstress. She and Larry shared a love of gardening delighting their friends, neighbors and family with flowers and vegetables that they had grown.
Jo and Larry leave a family that loved them both very much. She is survived by their daughter Nancy Wolf, son Gerry Roberts and his wife Dolly, grandsons Michael and Jeffrey Roberts, granddaughter Michele Kinney and her husband Joe. She is also survived by great granddaughters Kyra Roberts, Amanda Kinney, Elisabeth Kinney and great grandson Jordan Roberts. She leaves nieces and nephews that were very special to her.
Our family is especially grateful for the wonderful care our mother received from the Tarcus Family; Maggie, George, Ligia and Bennie at Noble Adult Family Home.
Our mother will be remembered at a graveside service in mid April.
