Papa was a family man.
He took care of all of us. Sometimes all we needed was a “little time and a few kind words”, and other times we needed him to fly across the country to see us. It didn’t matter how much or how little we needed. He was always there for all of us, always believed in us, and was always proud of us.
He was also a wonderful friend. He was easy to like and to trust, and made friends wherever he worked and wherever he went. Over the years, he worked in the Navy, at Bison Airlines, Trans World Airlines, Trans Texas Airways, Continental Airlines, International Air Academy, and Pioneer Elementary School. He lived in Oklahoma, New Mexico, California, Washington - plus two years on the USS Dortch and countless weeks flying in international airspace.
His sense of humor, integrity, kindness and patience made him a superb teacher. The walls of his home are covered with plaques, poems, and pictures from his students, from both the International Air Academy, where he was a teacher, and from Pioneer Elementary School, where he was a reading program volunteer for nearly ten years.
He is survived by his pride and joys – his children David (Cindy), Daniel (Barbara), Carolyn (Spencer) and Karen, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the love of his life and wife of 44 years, Beverly.
