Neal Henry Thibodeaux, 71, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather passed away peacefully at home from cancer surrounded by his wife and family.
Neal was born in Vancouver, Washington to the late Pauline and Thurston Thibodeaux. Neal went to Hough Grade School, Shumway Jr. High and graduated from Ft. Vancouver High School in 1968. After graduating, he enlisted and served six years in the Army National Guard. In 1972 he started his 39 year career working at the Clark County Juvenile Detention as a lead supervisor, retiring in 2011. During that time in 1982 he received the American Legion’s Juvenile Probation Officer of the Year Award.
Neal married the love of his life, best friend and soulmate, Nancy, on August 16, 1992. During their marriage they loved to fish, hunt, camp, ski, rodeo, spent many days at the beach and mountains and especially their time with family and friends. He was also a life member of The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Thurston Thibodeaux; brother Bill and sister Linda Bogar.
Neal is survived by his wife, Nancy, son Neal Jr., daughter Nissa Buchanan (Josh), grandsons Max and Mason Buchanan, sister Paula Clark (Doug), mother-in-law Carol Bradford, sister-in-law/brother-in-law Sue & Ed Malo, brother-in-law James Bradford and multiple nieces and nephews.
Neal leaves behind a legacy of family and friends, always caring about others, helping and guiding them in any way possible. His kindness, generosity, laugh and smile will be missed.
A celebration of his life will be hosted by family and friends this summer.
