Richard was born on November 13, 1938 in Portland, Oregon to Earl and Alice (Craycraft) Williamson. He went into the Air Force right out of high school and was stationed at radar sites on the west coast. He later went to work for the SP&S Railroad (now BNSF) and was an engineer for 40 years. Retirement didn’t really interest Richard, and in 1985 he partnered with Mike Roskam and Wayne Garlington to start Accounts Receivable.
Richard loved trains, airplanes, and cars—classic cars, toy cars, his own cars—especially Fords. He liked to go places, be it traveling the world with Margaret, attending the Barrett Jackson auction in Arizona, visiting family, or getting breakfast at Joe Browns. He loved to read. He loved investing in others. His wisdom and foresight paid for his children and his grandchildren to attend college. His generous nature sent many teens to summer camp and winter retreats. He also is remembered at his church, Liberty Bible, for his many years of service as a board member, Sunday School Superintendent, and head usher where he liked to give children pennies so they could learn to tithe.
Richard loved his family. He worried over his family. He wanted to know that everyone was doing well and was going to continue to do so. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He liked to give everyone a hard time and enjoyed being teased in return. If you did play along, you’d have been rewarded with a deep laugh that could make anyone smile.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alice. Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 52 years, and his four children: daughter Vicki Eastwood and husband Geoff, grandson Jake and wife Erika, and great-granddaughter Mackenzie; son Clinton Williamson; son Rosco Williamson and wife Anita; son Bradley Williamson and wife Jill, grandson Luke and granddaughter Kaitlyn; brother Kenneth Williamson and wife Lillian; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Liberty Bible Car Show, 12401 NE Salmon Creek Ave, Vancouver, WA 98686. The family of Richard Williamson wishes to thank the Sherwood Adult Family Home.
