Vera was raised in Nebraska on a farm. On a neighboring farm was a handsome young man named Albert. After many years of being neighbors, Albert and his family moved to Colorado, but he stayed in contact with Vera. Eventually, Albert was able to return to Nebraska and claim Vera as his bride and take her back to Colorado in 1942. They lived happily in Colorado until Albert joined the fight during WWII. While Albert was away, Vera went back to living with her parents. When Albert returned they lived in California where Vera worked for the government assembling wiring harnesses for Naval jets. Albert passed away in 1983, and this prompted Vera to move around a number of times to be with her children, eventually landing in Vancouver, Washington.
Vera was considered kind of a sassy lady. She didn’t let her age get in her way. While in her 60’s she took up roller skating, until she had a fall and broke her arm. No one doubts that she would have gotten back on the skates if one of her son’s, Albert, hadn’t taken them away from her. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, square dancing, Swedish weaving, sewing and reading. She particularly loved to read the bible.
Vera is survived by her children, Albert Holiday, Jr, Phyllis (George) Black, Duane (Diana) Holiday and Allan Holiday; brother, Frank Edwards; brother-in-law, Raymond (Eleanor) Holiday; sister-in-law, Mae (Russell) Maxwell; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert; son, Edward Holiday; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Holiday;
