Born March 10, 1933, Arlene was the youngest child of Frank and Lillian Buzek;
her brother, Clyde, was born in 1927. She attended De Paul University, Chicago,
where she met Ray Meyers; they married in 1955 just after her graduation.
They raised their family of five children in Westchester, Illinois, before retiring
to Florida in 1990.
A gifted teacher, Arlene was fondly remembered by her students who wrote her of
their lives years, then decades after being in her grade school class. She was a devoted
Catholic church member throughout her long life, and dedicated much of her time in volunteering
for church efforts. Arlene was proud of her five children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren;
children and their early education were particularly important to her both professionally and personally.
She and Ray enjoyed 67 years of a loving marriage, decades of international travel
and living in South Florida where they enjoyed enduring friendships and community.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Ray, five children: Sharon, Tom, Jim, Kathy and Bill;
five grand children: Sara, Ryan, Alec, Thea and Kai, and two great grandchlldren: Reece and Georgia.
She and Ray married on June 25, 1955; they celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary together
in South Florida.
