Carol Neumann

Carol Neumann, 86, of Englewood, Florida passed away on February 9, 2022 at Village on the

Isle Hospice House in Venice, Florida.

Born on April 3, 1935 in Tarrytown, NY, Carol was the daughter of John Ardsley Manchester and

Grace (Chaplan) Manchester. Carol and her husband Philip J Neumann Jr had a dairy farm in

Delhi, NY where they raised their children Carol Lee Cantwell, Susan L Decker, and Philip J

Neumann III.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, a sister (Sandra Twitty) and a brother (John A.

Manchester Jr).

Carol attended Anderson College in South Carolina and the University of Connecticut. She

married her husband Philip in 1955 in Scarsdale, NY. She and her husband bought a dairy farm

on Peakes Brook Rd, Delhi, NY in August of 1957 where they lived until 2007 when they

relocated to Englewood, Florida.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family.

She loved to have family gatherings and barbeques and was known for her fabulous meals

during the holidays. Carol baked everyday, did a lot of canning, and always made things from

scratch. She enjoyed mowing the lawn, watching the UConn girl’s basketball games and

working on election day. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband and family,

including attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. She cherished going out

and socializing with friends.

Carol is survived by her husband, Philip J Neumann Jr, children Carol Lee Cantwell, Susan L

Decker (Kurt), and Philip J Neumann III (Tammy), grandchildren Jamie L Cantwell, Jessica M

Shiner (Jason), Julie R Cantwell-Lee (Daniel), Jennifer L Alexander (Eric), John R Holbert

(Rachel), Justin M Eighmey, Shawn P Neumann, and Michael J Neumann, great grandchildren

Ryan L Weaver, Isabella Shiner and Willow S Shiner.

The family extends deep thanks to the staff at Village of the Isle Hospice House in Venice. A

celebration of life will be held at a later date for the family. Arrangements are under the direction

of the Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in

Carol’s name to Village on the Isle Hospice House, 910 Tamiami Trail S, Venice, Fl.
