

He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on March 21,1944 to the late Gerald and Hortense (Long) Aull. A proud Kentuckian and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and brother-in-law. He was married to Brenda Brickey Aull for 56 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Shannon Wynne and her husband Brian, and his cherished grandson, Huston Wynne.
Donnie leaves behind his siblings, Bobby Aull (Sandy), Rick Aull, and Sherry Crisp (David), brother-in-law, Gary Frazier, as well as many nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. He was especially close to Jansen Hidenrite, Jenae Keown, Michael Harrison and Teresa Herold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Hortense Aull; his siblings Brenda Pagel and Shirley Cornett (Jack); and his sisters-in-law, Tracie Frazier and Eleanor Strickland (Toby).
Donnie graduated from Hancock County High School, served honorably in the National Guard and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He loved to cook for others and was known for his delicious barbecue and his tradition of making homemade Christmas candy. He found great joy in traveling with family and friends, creating memories in amazing places near and far. Donnie especially enjoyed watching baseball-most of all, cheering on his grandson, Huston. Later in life, he took up gardening, growing desert roses, word puzzles, computer games and creating Book Art.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of Donnie’s doctors, nurses, all staff at Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice, and Hospice caregivers for their compassionate care in his final months.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Road, Venice, Florida on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice.
