Earlis “Sonny” Brown, a beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life rich in faith, family, music, and community, and leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.
Born in 1945 to Roy Brown and Anna Boshell, Earlis grew up with strong family roots that guided him through life’s joys and challenges. He shared deep bonds with his brother Loyd Brown of Doniphan, MO, and his sister Linda Young of Poplar Bluff, MO. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Ellis Kennedy, JoAnn Kennedy, and Patricia Kennedy.
Sonny was blessed with a devoted wife, Debra Brown (Williams), who stood faithfully by his side through life’s journey. Together, they built a loving home filled with faith, laughter, and family.
He was also blessed with children who were the pride of his life:
• Daughters: Cheryl Brummett, Rhonda Fisher, and Dallas Brown
• Sons: Tony Brown and Michael Brown (wife Missy)
• Stepchildren: Christopher Roper (wife Veronica), Donald Sill III (wife Cara), and Shawna Sill
His family continued to grow through multiple grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy and carried forward his legacy of love and strength. Sonny instilled his values, love, and legacy into his children, ensuring that his spirit will live on through their lives and the generations to come.
Above all else, Sonny loved God and lived as a faithful servant of Christ. His strong faith shaped his life and inspired those around him. He found deep joy in gathering at the Indian Mound Country Jam on Mondays and the Gospel Jamboree on Sundays, where his love for fellowship and gospel singing shined bright. Those who knew him best will remember his warm smile, his deep compassion for others, and his ability to lift spirits through music and kindness.
Earlis “Sonny” Brown will be remembered as a man of faith, integrity, laughter, and devotion to his wife and family. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his memory lives on in every prayer spoken, every note of music played, every story shared, and every act of love passed forward.
The family takes comfort knowing he is reunited with those who went before him and that his soul now rests in eternal peace with his Savior.
