Edward (Ed) Francis Ross, age 82 of Nokomis, Florida passed away on Sunday September 17, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born an only child to his parents Edward and Laura Ross of Staten Island, New York, where he grew up. Ed graduated from Tottenville High School in 1958. Ed spent his career installing communications infrastructure in New York City for Nokia/Lucent (Formerly AT&T) while raising his family in Englishtown and then Freehold, New Jersey.
Upon his retirement in 1993, and he and his wife Joan relocated to Venice, Florida. They moved to Supply, North Carolina, in 2007 before returning to Florida in 2017. Ed remained active in his community through participation on homeowners’ association committees and neighborhood improvement activities. Ed was good at lending a hand to those in need; he shared practical strategies of “how to or when to” from wisdom and experience. Ed and his wife enjoyed traveling with their friends and game nights in the community for many years. Ed also had a love for history channel, crime shows and ice cream.
His friends and family will miss his infectious laugh, wicked sense of humor, straight-shooting approach to life, love of his family, and ability to repair or build almost anything.
