He was born in West Stewartstown, NH on February 18, 1947, to the late Archille and Marie Laure (Marquis) Riendeau. He grew up with eight siblings on a farm in South Canaan and attended local schools.
Gerard began a lifelong career at Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen Inc. in 1965. Throughout his years there, he was promoted from a Pressman in the Cabinet Department to a Supervisor, then General Supervisor, gaining the respect of many during his 44 year tenure. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.
Gerard was devoted to his wife, daughters and grandchildren and they had many adventures over the years traveling both in and out of the country. He enjoyed the outdoors biking, hiking, skiing, brook fishing and boating. He loved to have a project to work on whether it was tinkering in his garage or helping to build a log cabin camp to share with his family and friends.
He was a generous neighbor and community member, offering his time and skills to those who needed it. Over the years he served a term as a Selectman in Canaan, contributed to building projects in his Florida community and enjoyed many friendships along the way.
He will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature. He took advantage of what life had to offer and always made it more fun with his great sense of humor and hearty infectious laugh.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary (Keazer) Riendeau; daughters Rachelle (Tom Williams) Kleber of Hartland, VT, Kimberly (David) Silva of Sandown, NH; five grandchildren, Sara, Emma and Lily Kleber, Gage and Quinn Silva; one brother, Roger Riendeau of Canaan, VT; five sisters, Joycelyn (John Pierre) Gervais of Island Pond, VT, Suzelle (Walter) Noyes of Lemington, VT, Jacinthe (Luc) Marchesseault of Canaan, VT, Doris (Claude) Bouthillier of Mountain View, MO, and Louise (Luc) Lambert of Lowell, MA; sisters-in law Brenda Towne, Lorraine Keazer, Donna Keazer and Bonnie Riendeau; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
