Joanne Martin Hammar

Joanne Martin Hammar, age 63, of Venice, Florida, passed away at her residence on January 19, 2026. Joanne was born on July 31, 1962 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Virginia L. (nee Putnam) Martin.

Although born in Dorchester, the family moved to Foxborough when Joanne was very young, hence her love of her hometown Patriots. Often when asked where she was from, her answer would simply be “why the center of the football universe”.

Joanne was truly one in a million. She was a person who left footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion, humor and inspiration, joy and faith. Although she is gone from this earth, we can look back and see the trail she left behind. She had the ability to light up a room when she entered. Her smile and laugh warmed the hearts of everyone she met. She wanted to be an inspiration to everyone, to fight the fight, to never give up…. the fight she fought trying to beat this monster disease was remarkable, yet heartbreaking….she truly was a warrior.

Joanne loved everything about her life. Her time as a motel owner in Maine, her days as the Director of Business Development for the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce, and most recently as the driving force behind The Hammar Team at Michael Saunders and Company. And she loved her golf! Especially with her golf girls!

Joanne was also preceded in death by her beloved Yellow Lab, Buddy, who met her at the Rainbow Bridge.

Joanne is survived by her loving Husband, Jim; her beloved sister Kathy; her cherished step-daughter Erica, and her two beautiful step-grandchildren Levi and Kiki.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday February 22 at Solis Hall in downtown Wellen Park from 12:00 to 3:00. 19725 Wellen Park Blvd. Venice, Fl. 34293
