Louis F. Masella Jr. of Englewood, FL passed away on February 23, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1947 and later moved to Long Island, where he met his wife of 45 years, Mary. Louis built a successful career as a foreman for road and railroad construction, and often used his free time to work on various home improvement projects. He enjoyed watching old westerns, loved horses (especially when they were winning!) and was always up for a good game of cards. More than anything, Louis loved his family, and he often showed this love through his amazing Italian cooking. He was welcoming and giving, and was happiest when cooking for a room full of his family and friends. Louis eventually retired and moved to Arizona, but finally settled in Florida in 2019 to be together with all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Marion Masella, his son Sean O’Toole, and his brother-in-law Harry Vandergriff. He is survived by his wife Mary Masella; his daughters Tara Barber (Chris) and Alana Masella; daughter-in-law Michelle O’Toole, his grandchildren Jordan Masella, Cody, Anna, and Devin Barber, and Ryan, Kate, Kari, and Jimmy O’Toole; great grandchildren Callie, Ivee, and Brent; his sisters Ida Vandergriff and Marion Tadeo; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi, 5265 Placida Rd, Grove City, FL 34224.
