Marjorie Joan Pfeiffer passed away at 98, peacefully, surrounded by family. Joan was devoted to family and faith, working most to encompass everyone in her loving home to feel welcome and respected. No one was turned away, regardless of where you came from. She loved us all.
One of five children raised by Fredrick and Helen Hartranft in Montgomery PA, she went on to raise our family in Tallmadge OH. A retired bookkeeper, she and her beloved husband George moved to Venice FL over thirty years ago.
They loved to travel and volunteer at state and national parks; she especially loved time with family and friends, her faith, quilting, and her grand doggies. The last years were most enjoyed with family, Rays baseball, Facebook, and her Waggly Tail Josie always at her side.
She is preceded in death by husband George Pfeiffer, parents Helen and Frederick Hartranft, and siblings Harold, Mary, Nancy, Phillip (Shirley) and nephew Billy Bastian. She leaves behind daughter Barbara Thomas, sons Ivan (Pamela) and Stephen Groom (Charlene); family friend Joe Hollingsworth, step-daughters Marilyn Freeman (Bob), Nancy Pfeiffer, and Tricia Roth (Gary); grandchildren Bobby (Jessica), Cory (Jackie), Chelsea, Julia JoAnne, Lillian (Kerry), Mark (Courtney), Nathan (Kelcie), Rebecca JoAnne, Richard (Jodi), Tom (David), and Wendy (Eric) ; great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Claire, Lane, Kaleb, Olivia, Riley (Shiloh) and Trace.
A private family service was held October 22nd at Christ United Methodist Church, where she will rest, finally in peace alongside George. A heartfelt thank you to Mom’s neighbor Michelle who helped so much, and all of the Tidewell Hospice team. Their help and kindness has been exceptional.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donation in support of the Venice Florida Tidewell Hospice.
