Richard W. Saunders, 89, Englewood, passed away June 28, 2022. He was born on July 14, 1932 in Indianapolis and graduated from Belle Union High School in 1950 where he played varsity basketball and baseball. He worked his entire career at IBM in Greencastle, Indiana, retiring in 1986. He is a US Army Veteran serving in Germany. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Jean Saunders and they would have been married 70 years this month; children Jeffrey (Judy) of Plainfield, Indiana and Robert (Marge) Saunders of Englewood; sister Judy (Wilbur) Crawley of Port Charlotte; and one grandchild (MJ Saunders). Graveside Services will be held on July 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery.
