Rosemary graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, where she earned her diploma as a Registered Nurse. While she was working at St. Francis Hospital, she met Richard Tracy who she then married in 1960 and they had 3 children. While raising their 3 children, she worked as a registered nurse from 1968 – 1994 at various health centers throughout her career. She worked at St. Elizabeth Health Center in East Hartford, CT for 20 plus years prior to retiring to Florida. In Florida, she continued as a volunteer for Hospice of Southwest Florida in Port Charlotte, FL. She also served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Saint Francis of Assisi in Grove City, FL from 2007-2009.
Rosemary was known for her quick wit and unmistakable sense of humor, bringing laughter and light to every room she entered. She had a gift for making people feel at ease, often with a clever remark or a perfectly timed joke that stayed with you long after.
She was the most patient, understanding, best friend to her 3 children. She welcomed everyone into her home and heart.
As ‘Nana’, she created memories that her grandchildren will forever carry—teaching them how to play cards, sharing stories, and filling their days with joy. As “Nana the Great,” she continued that legacy, wrapping each new generation in the same warmth, kindness, and unconditional love.
She built traditions that will live on for generations—simple, meaningful moments that now form the foundation of her family’s most treasured memories like baking Christmas Cookies.
Rosemary had a rare and beautiful way of showing compassion to everyone she met. Her kindness was constant, her love unwavering, and her presence a gift to all who knew her.
She enjoyed playing cards with the St. Francis of Assisi Ladies’ Guild, friends who she thought of as family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Richard F. Tracy, her brother, James P. Egan, and brother-in-law, Raymond Tracy.
Her legacy lives on through her son and two daughters Richard, Doreen and Kathleen Tracy; Her 4 grandchildren Kileen Tracy, Lindsay Tracy, Jamie Moore (Justin) and Lauren Paul; Two great-grandchildren Connor Tracy and Madelyn Moore; Her brother-in-law Gary Tracy (Debbie) and sister-in-law, Carol Tracy; Many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and friends she considered family.
There will be a funeral mass to be held at St. Francis of Assisi, 5265 Placida Road Englewood, FL on June 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. with brunch to follow in the church hall. Interment at Gulf Pines Memorial Park | Cemetery, 2401 Englewood Road, Englewood, FL.
