Catherine Ann Hamlet

Cathy was the 7th of 10 children. She graduated from Ventura High in 1953 and married Ed Hamlet on December 19th of that year. As a U. S. A. F. military couple they lived in Pensacola, FL and Midwest City, OK, where they had their first son, Jeff in 1956. Then Elizabethtown, KY., and Sidney, NE before moving back to Ventura; where they went on to have Doug, Dan and Linda. After raising her children she graduated from college as an RN.

Cathy truly loved playing softball (short stop) and was featured on the front page of SPORTS in our local Ventura Star Newspaper when she was 56. She also loved camping, water skiing, and bowling with her friends from Buena Lanes and meeting them for Tuesday lunches!

Cathy lost her husband Ed (of 57 years) who succumbed to Alzheimer’s in March of 2011; and now leaves behind her twin brothers, Larry (Donna) and Garry (Dora) of Ventura, her children, Jeff (Sue) of Paradise, Doug (Kathy) of Ventura, Dan (Kim) of Bend, OR., and Linda of Casitas Springs, eight grandchildren, Johnathon, Kristi, Dustin, Matt (Erin), Ryan (Gaby), Rebecca, Jenny and Scott, and two great-grandchildren.

At Cathy’s request, there will be no services. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to
