

On July 19, 2016 we lost a loving husband, father and grandfather . Clyde Taylor passed away at his home after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 92. Clyde and his family moved to California when he was at the age of 15 and lived in the Los Angeles area where Clyde graduated from Venice High School in 1941. Clyde had known and dated his future wife, Betty Wood, for a number of years previous to graduating from Venice High School.
After graduation, Clyde entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. A short three years later, Clyde and Betty were married. Clyde served on two ships and also was stationed in China and Japan. After returning to the United States, he was stationed at Port Hueneme and also had duty at the recruiting station in Santa Barbara. Clyde retired after 20 years in the U.S. Navy and became a Master Mechanic at different locations throughout Ventura County. He was also very active after retirement at the Port Hueneme Retired Activities Office for 17 years.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty Taylor, daughters, Gwen Taylor and her partner Dale Wharton, Betty Taylor-Davenport , and son Clyde Taylor and his wife Judi Taylor. Grandchildren Tracy Schade, Christine Bates and Jay Flaa, great-grandchildren Ryan, Heather, Aaron, Stout and Ivy as well as great great-granddaughter Penelope and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter Gerrie Bonge and granddaughter Stacy Butler.
Clyde and Betty were long-time members of Coastline Bible Church. Clyde will be long-remembered and missed by his many friends and family.
Clyde wished to be laid to rest at Bakersfield National Cemetery. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Association , 1996 Eastman Avenue, Suite 101, Ventura , California 93003.
