We are dismayed to announce the sudden passing of our wonderful Danika Rose Merlo. She went to the beach to reflect upon hearing of the death of her grandfather, and perished when her car left Pacific Coast Highway sometime after 1:30AM, Thursday, June 9, 2016.
She is mourned by her mother, Lovelle Fuhrmann Jordan, her nine-year old boy, Bohdan Luttrull, her adoptive father, Grayson Jordan, Bohdan’s biological father, Travis Luttrull, Travis’ mother, Jackie Luttrull, her biological father, Robert Merlo, her brother, Darcey Merlo, and her two adoring sisters, Ivy Rose Merlo and Chelsea Rose Merlo. She and her sisters were The Three Roses, The Three Musketeers. It will never be the same for them without her.
Born in Glendale on February 12, 1984, Danika spent most of her life in Malibu, from Malibu Elementary to graduating well from Malibu High. Since then, she studied photojournalism at Brooks Institute, and had careers in exotic animal care, animal training, and precision machining. She was about to return to college for her degree in veterinary science.
In recent years, her home has been in Ventura with her sister and son. Danika was an accomplished cook, made beautiful art, read voraciously, shared her macabre sense of humor with a crooked little smile, and was just so much fun.
An informal memorial will be observed on June 25th at 2:00 PM, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, CA 93003. Her many friends are welcome, and may say a few words, or just be present. Flowers are fine, or donations to hsvc.org, a no-kill shelter.
