Dorothy "Karen" Miller

Our beloved Dorothy Karen Miller (Karen), of Ventura County, left us on Sunday, June 22, 2014, following a brave battle with cancer. Karen was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 25, 1952. She was the daughter of a Naval Officer and had many homes across the years, including Atsugi, Japan. She attended Channel Islands High School in Oxnard and graduated high school from W.T. Woodson in Fairfax, VA, in 1970.

Most of her years were spent growing up in Southern California where she enjoyed swimming and surfing. Karen was a very talented, self-taught artist, who enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Her kindness, generosity, wonderful sense of humor and hearty laugh will be remembered by all who knew her.

Karen is survived by three children, Cole Miller, Kimberly Miller, and Robert Miller. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Holmes; sisters, Dora Lee Taylor, and Desiree Scherini; four grandchildren, Ethan, Wyatt, Austin and Olivia; as well as two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Miller and infant daughter, Marilyn Jean.
