

Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Edna passed away peacefully at the age of 92.
Edna was born in Santa Barbara, CA to Mary B. and John D. Singleton. She attended schools in
Fillmore and Santa Paula. She graduated from the University of Redlands in 1943 with a
teaching degree and taught elementary grades in the city of Avenal, CA for two years.
Edna married her high school sweetheart, William Ree, on May 25, 1945 in Santa Paula, CA
and began married life in Los Angeles where their son was born in 1948. They moved to North
Hollywood in 1949 and in 1952 their daughter was born. In 1987 they moved to Ventura, CA.
She moved to an assisted living facility in Simi Valley in 2009.
Edna joined as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1950 during her mother's year of
service as Worthy Matron of Santa Paula Chapter. In 1972 she affiliated with the North
Hollywood Chapter as her husband and daughter were also initiated into the order. She and
her husband served proudly as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of North Hollywood Chapter
in 1978. She proudly served the Grand Chapter of California in 1982 as Grand Esther. She had
been a member of the Order for 63 years.
She is survived by Donald and Linda Ree, her son and daughter-in-law of Simi Valley; Sue
Giacinto, her daughter of Simi Valley; William and Kristen Giacinto, her grandson and
granddaughter-in-Iaw of Corinth, TX; Anthony Giacinto and Logan Giacinto, her great
grandsons of Corinth, TX and Heather Giacinto, her great granddaughter of Newbury Park, CA.
She was loved by many and respected by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A private burial will be at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, per Edna's wishes.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes Medical Center and Shriners Childrens
Hospital.
