Geraldine Newlun

Geri, a twin, was born in Gentry, AR on January 21, 1923 to Joseph and Maude Mae Sullivan. She passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2012 in Ventura. At the age of 19 she married L. Glen Newlun Sr. and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Loy & Glennie before moving to Ventura County in 1949.

Geri’s greatest love was her family which included her little dog Macs. She dearly adored her Grace Baptist church family and will be remembered for her sense of humor, good cooking and love of gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, and her grandson, Robert Burgess and her brothers Mac, Ray and Joe Sullivan.

Geri is survived by the sweetest of Daughters, “Sis” Glennie (Fred Behringer) Wilburn of Lancaster, CA. Commonly known by many as Granny she had four granddaughters Darcy (Bob) Flores of Dallas, TX; Desiree Newlun of Abilene, TX; Tammy (Barry) Bender of Ventura; and Destry (Benny) Gideon of Abilene, TX and grandson Derrick Newlun of Merkel, TX. She has ten great-grandchildren, specifically close to her were Blake and Kailee Bender of Ventura and Kyler Gideon of Abilene, TX and three great, great, grandchildren. She has two nieces Vicky (John) McDonald of Leon, KS and Donna Jean (John) Willis of Claremore, OK and a nephew Larry Joe (Peggy) Sullivan of Wichita, KS.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, followed by internment at Ivy Lawn Cemetery.
