Irene King

Irene King, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in Ventura following a prolonged illness. She was born on June 28, 1927, in Boles, AR, to James and Georgia Brown. Irene moved to Ivanhoe, California along with her family after the start of the great depression.

She was employed as a beautician in her early years to help support her family. Irene later moved to Ventura, working in the real estate industry for several years. She opened her own day care facility in the mid 90’s and managed it up until retirement. Irene loved children and helped many through the years.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald King in 2006; and sons, Steve, Michael and Dennis Lee.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joy Lee; niece, Patricia Clark; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Irene will be held at the Ventura Baptist Church, 5415 Ralston St., Ventura, on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. with the Reverend Dr. Leonard DeWitt officiating.
