

Jack T. Freie, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on April 30, 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri. After attending the University of Oklahoma City, he moved to California in 1940. In 1941, he married Maxanna Lee Dirickson and in 1948, they moved to Fillmore. After working in the aviation industry for over ten years, they moved to Ventura in 1952. Jack attended UCLA’s specialized real estate courses and started a real estate business that he owned and operated for 40 years.
In 1992 he sold his real estate business and focused on commercial real estate development for the next ten years. He was a member of the East Ventura Lion’s Club, the Fillmore Rotary, the Ventura Dance Club, the Saticoy Country Club, and was also president of the Santa Barbara chapter of the American Society of Appraisers.
He is survived by his children Jacqueline Welch of Lemoore, Richard Freie of Oakview, Robert Freie of Sacramento and D. Mark Freie of Camarillo; grandchildren Andrew Duke, Alexander Duke, Donald Welch, Daniel Welch, Eric Freie, Corrie Cook, Cameron Freie, Keely Freie and Saige Freie; and nine great grandchildren. Jack was also deeply grateful for his relationship with Ruth “Mousie” Barnard, his dear friend.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura, CA
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to the Salvation Army at 21375 Roscoe Blvd, Canoga Park, CA 91304.
