

Born in Winterton, Newfoundland, she came to America with her parents at the age of 3, growing up in Watertown, Massachusetts.
Subsequently residing in South Carolina, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Maryland before setting in Ventura, CA in 1967.
Jean graduated from Watertown High in 1941. She became an OR Nurse at
Newton Hospital, Newton, Massachusetts during WWII.
As a young mother, Jean and her husband owned and operated “Blackmore’s Variety”, a neighborhood market & soda fountain in Quincy, Mass. When the store was sold, she enjoyed her role as wife, mother and homemaker. Later in life she worked at Hickory Farms in the San Buenaventura Mall for many years.
She was preceded in death by parents Eliol and Clara Green; brother, Allan Green; and husband, Ernest W. Blackmore Jr. (2000).
Jean is survived by son, Ernest W. Blackmore III, of Ventura. His children Nathan, Natalie, and Lindsey and his grandchild Taylor.
Daughter, Susan Henkel, Ventura, husband, David and sons Lorne (Keely), Brad and Brian and her grandchildren Hannah Jean and Graham.
At Jean’s request there will not be a funeral service. A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at a later date.
