In Loving Memory of our father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, we sadly announce the passing of Joe S. Hernandez, on Friday, December 11, 2015, at home, with his loving family by his side. Joe was born October 28, 1939, to Jose and Regina (Coronado) Hernandez, in Ventura and lived in Saticoy all of his life.
He served in the Army National Guard. He worked for Kimball Topper all of his adult life as a heavy equipment operator and a welder. Joe was happily married 57 years to Lydia (Lovio) Hernandez, and raised their family in Saticoy. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2015.
Joe is survived by his son, Larry Hernandez (Peggy); daughters, Veronica Hernandez and Lyssa Erb (Chuck); Joe was a dedicated husband and father leaving many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He enjoyed taking long drives to Las Vegas, going on camping trips and fishing, but most of all riding his Harley with his wife to Laughlin. Joe especially loved the most was Pismo Beach with family runs and being with family of bikers. Even though they only went a few times they spoke of the runs for years.
Special thanks to Dr. D. Shawn Skillern, M.D., for your care of our beloved father. Also, thanks to Livingston Hospice Nurses, your staff gave us so much support and lovingly cared for our father.
Now Mom and Dad will ride together again in Heaven. Joe’s big smile, laugh, jokes and his caring ways will always be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura, with a Catholic service beginning at 6:00 pm. No reception following.
