Friday morning John woke up early, got dressed, flirted with all of the women, then said “I’m tired and need to lie down for a minute.” As soon as he lay down, John stopped breathing… He passed away very peaceful. The next time he opened his eyes, we all know he was back in our mother’s arms.
John was born March 6, 1925, in Lockport, New York to James and Josephine Ronchetti. During World War II he was drafted into the Merchant Marines, and after serving his term John decided to enlist in United States Army. In 1950, John was fortunate enough to marry “The Love of His Life,” Carmel LeBrun. After his time in the military, he was hired on with the Pacific Bell telephone company as a Lineman, and telephone installation technician. In 1982, after 60 years of working for Pacific Bell John retired from the job he loved going to every day.
He had his fair share of extracurricular activities to keep him busy during his retirement. John was a part of the Pioneer Group, a Coach for the Pop Warner football league, the Ventura little league baseball, the Ranchero Ride, and the Italian Catholic Federation. He loved cooking and eating so much that John was even the Co-Owner of the Continental Deli, in Ventura.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmel Ronchetti; son, Roy Ronchetti; and his parents, James and Josephine Ronchetti.
John is survived by his children, Karen Ronchetti and her husband Jerry Moses of Ventura, Gary Ronchetti of Lansing, MI, and Cheryl Bershers of Metairie, LA; grandchildren, Dominick, Andrea, Eric, Christopher, Leslie, Bryan, and John; and his 17 great-grandchildren with a couple more on the way.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. A funeral service will take place the following day on Friday, August 21, 2015, 10:00 A.M., also at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, with burial immediately following at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura.
