Joyce was born on July 25, 1933 to Harold Farmer and Manon (Farmer) Dublin, in Weakley County, Tennessee. She was raised in southwestern Kentucky where she met many of her life-long friends. After graduating high school, she moved to Nashville to attend secretarial college. While there, she met the one and only love of her life, Ben (Burt) Chapman. They were married on March 20th 1953.
Joyce was employed as a bookkeeper for various interesting businesses until the birth of their only child, Brian, in 1957. Ten years later, she returned to work at AARP/NRTA in Ojai until it closed. From there she went to work at Bayless and Starr Market in Ojai.
After retiring, she enjoyed spending time attending the many functions and events sponsored by the local chapter of the Old Time Fiddlers Association which she and her husband were founding members. Through the Fiddlers and her family in faith at the Church of Christ, Joyce enjoyed the company and companionship of a great many friends. She was a dedicated servant of her Lord, a true and caring friend, a devoted and attentive mother, a loving and nurturing grandmother and a proud great-grandmother. She was everything that we, as a family could ever have wished for.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father Harold Farmer, her mother Manon Dublin and her loving and devoted husband Ben (Burt) Chapman. She is survived by her son, Brian Chapman and his wife, Melissa of Moorpark; her granddaughters, Shannon Airton (Dale) of Mkhuze, South Africa, Brianne Leavitt (Derek) and Vanessa Chapman, both of Los Angeles; and her great grandson, Wyatt Ben Airton.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 29th at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, in Ventura, followed immediately afterward by graveside service at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park and a reception at 1:00 pm at the Church of Christ in Ojai.
