Lynn Joseph Couret Jr., 69, of Oxnard, CA passed away Monday, September 6, 2010. He was born February 25, 1941 in New Orleans, LA and moved to So. Cal. when he was four years old. Before entering high school, he earned honors as an Eagle Scout. He later graduated from Simi Valley High School in 1958 where he was fondly remembered as a top athlete in football and track as well as President of the Student Body. These were truly some of the favorite years of his life.
After high school, Lynn attended USC for 2 years before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he spent 2 years, 11 months, and 4 days (as he would proudly tell his children and grandchildren). Stationed in Germany, he was assigned to Company A, 2nd Heavy Tank Battalion, 33rd Armed Division. He was very proud to have served and to have risen quickly to the rank of Company Clerk where he managed all of his Battalion's affairs.
Following an honorable discharge, Lynn completed his studies at USC where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. He graduated from USC with a degree in Business and went on to obtain his Master's Degree at California Lutheran University. Lynn had a successful career in Commercial Banking where he rose to the position of Vice President.
Lynn was a warm and generous man who had a great sense of humor and an appreciation for music. Full of life, he loved travel, good food and wine, and spirited conversation. Lynn was proudly one of the biggest USC football fans of all time. He was a season ticket holder for 20+ years and he never missed a home game.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 14 years Malou, his daughter Cheryl, his sister Valerie, her husband Barry, their son Spencer, and the rest of Lynn's family -- Morgan, Tracy, Chip, Deborah, Gene & Carrie, his grandchildren -- Trevor, Cooper James & Nikolai, as well as countless dear friends.
Services were held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, CA 93003.
