Mary Jane was born June 18, 1931, in West Babylon, New York to Anna Walsh and Paul Jack.
She was the youngest of nine children. As a young adult Mary Jane worked as a Nanny and also at the A & P Grocery until she met Eric Bror Johnson. They were married on January 31, 1953. Mary Jane and Eric resided in New York until 1967 when they moved to Ventura with their four children. Their fifth child was born in Ventura.
She was preceded in death by Eric in 1991.
Mary Jane was a longtime devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Ventura. Bingo was a very special part of Mary Janes life; she loved playing several times a week and had a family of bingo friends who referred to her as “40” or “Bloody Mary”. Another of her activities was bowling in which she was active for many years. In later life when she was no longer able to bowl she would go to cheer others on.
One of Mary Jane’s regular outings were her visits to the Thompson Donut Shop where she enjoyed coffee and donuts with her friends and family and often celebrated special occasions. Mary Jane’s family will fondly remember the many occasions when they would play cards or Yahtzee, to which there was always a small wager attached. This was a delight to Mary Jane!
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Eric Paul and Krystal Johnson of Santa Paula, Carl and Kathy Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, Stephen and Rebecca Johnson of Ventura; daughter and son-in-law, Lark and Matt Stevens of Ventura; daughter, Deborah Temple of Buellton; grandchildren, Angela (Tony) Lopez, Eric Michael (Lindsey) Johnson, Danielle (Wes) Espinosa, Amber Stevens, Brian Stevens, Evan Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Kayla Johnson and Rebecca Johnson; great grandchildren, Ariel Meyer, Bella, MacKenzie, Hailee and Evan Lopez, Jordan and Eric Chase Johnson, Madisyn Espinosa. Another great grandson is arriving in February. Also surviving is her brother, John “Squirt” Jack of North Babylon, NY; sister-in-law, Dolores Schlobohm; as well as a great many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Jim, Billy and Vinnie and her sisters, Betty, Leona and Sally as well as her beloved husband, Eric Bror Johnson.

I’m Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has chosen for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow;
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much.
Good friends, good times,
a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now. He set me free.
