

Miriam was born March 2, 1909, in Altoona, PA to Jacob and Lavania Bechhoefer. She graduated from Altoona HS and went on to Radcliffe College (now Harvard University) where she met her future husband, David Sachs, who was also attending Harvard. They met, fell in love and were married on June 17, 1932. David was an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board in Baltimore MD where they lived for 40 years. Before having children Miriam worked for the Glueck Research Team studying behavior of delinquent children which lead her to a job as probation officer with the State of Maryland from 1952 until 1970. In 1989 she and David moved to their home in Camarillo. David died in August, 1994 and Miriam has remained in her home
During their years together they enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, cooking, and enjoying friends and family.
Mimi is survived by daughter, Stephanie Levine and friend Richard Schaberg, of Ventura CA; son Robert & wife Dee Sachs of Norwalk, CT; grandchildren, Mark Levine & wife Kathy of Dallas TX, Michael Levine & wife Lori of Laguna Beach, CA, Thomas Levine & wife Melanie of Eldorado Hills, CA, Daniel Sachs & wife Alison of Norwalk, CT, Jonathan Sachs of Lafayette, CO; and great grandchildren Zachary & Jacob Levine of Laguna Beach, Lindsey Levine of Eldorado Hills , Kyle Davis & Cameron Davis of Dallas.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Mimi’s loving caregivers Divinia Lavarias & Anthony Lavarias. Mimi will be remembered for her positive attitude, love of family and ability to bring many members of family together.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 10:00 A.M. in the chapel at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, with burial following. Rabbi Lisa Hochberg-Miller from Temple Beth Torah will officiate.
