

Phyllis was born in Seminole, Oklahoma and at the age of 18 moved to Santa Paula, California where she met the love of her life, Mel Tieman, and was married to him for 53 years. Phyllis lived in Santa Paula where she worked in a local packing house. She also taught preschool for several years at Sheri’s Preschool on 8th Street. She then attended school locally to become a beautician, which led to her running her own Beauty Salon on Main Street in Santa Paula.
In 1962 God blessed Phyllis and Mel Tieman with a beautiful baby girl which they named Susan Tieman. Phyllis was a devoted mother and later became a loving and affectionate grandmother.
Phyllis enjoyed going to Church on Sundays where she loved to sing and listen to gospel music. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Santa Paula, and First Assembly of God Church in Ventura.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Susan (Tieman) Taylor, son-in-law David Taylor and loving granddaughter Benay. She was preceded in death by her husband Mel Tieman, sister, Betty McKinnon and brother, Bill Lindsay.
A memorial service will be held at Coastline Bible Church, 526 S. Mills Road, Ventura on Saturday October 1, 2011 at 11:30 AM.
Upon retiring Phyllis’ desire was to return to Duncan, OK with her husband to be near to her brothers Harold Lindsay, Kenneth “Dale” Lindsay and her sister Betty McKinnon along with their families. While in Duncan she attended New Hope Baptist West Church. When she returned to Ventura, she attended Coastline Bible Church.
Phyllis’ final resting place will be alongside her husband, Mel Tieman in Duncan, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held at the Duncan Cemetery on Wednesday October 26, 2011 at 11:30 AM.
