Percy was born in Craig, Colorado on June 22, 1932 to Esther and Doss Purcell. After her parents' divorce, she was raised by her grandparents, until moving to California with her mother. Percy attended schools in Ventura and there she met the love of her life, Richard Lagomarsino. They were married after graduating from high school. Together they had 5 wonderful children, and she loved being a mom.
She was a Girl Scout leader, and also belonged to the Junior Women's Club, 40 Leaguers, and the Ventura County Women's Posse. Percy always loved to travel to places and transport things by car, so that she could hear the stories of the land that her husband would tell her. They relished time alone in beautiful places, but also enjoyed vacations with family and friends - water skiing at Medford Island, staying at Christy Beach on Santa Cruz Island and at a beach house in Ventura.
Later in life, their lives revolved around the mountains, spending time in the High Sierras and Wyoming. She loved being the wife of a hunter, sharing with him the seasonal experiences. On their travels, they would often stop to see the wild flowers in the spring, and when in Wyoming, she'd gaze at all of the new born baby geese, right outside the window of their home.
Percy was the rock of the family and was always available, strong and ready to handle anything. She also had the gift of making everyone feel comfortable with her friendly ability to make conversation. She was always there, for her husband, children and her dear friends.
Percy is survived by her husband, Rick Lagomarsino; her daughters, Christy Sylvester and Lori Drysdale; and her sons, Ricky, Matt, and Mike Lagomarsino - and all of their wonderful spouses. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, two step brothers, many precious friends, and two spoiled black labs.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ventura County Museum or Catholic Charities. There will be a mass at 10 a.m. at the Old Mission on August 26, 2010. Arrangements under direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
