

In loving memory of Vicki Ramona Sousa who went to be with The Lord on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2011, following a lengthy and courageous battle with lung cancer. Vicki was born October 9, 1938 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
She was raised by her loving parents, Nell and Richard Snoddy. Vicki was married to Peter Sousa in 1953 and started her family at a very young age in Lompoc, California. Peter and Vicki moved the family to Ventura in 1966, to raise their four daughters. She was a stay at home Mom and a playground supervisor at Mound School in Ventura. After the girls were raised she took her first job at the Broadway Department Store in Ventura, which was the perfect job for her to express her stylish taste in fashion. In addition to her love for stylish clothes she also enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, arts and crafts, but most important to her were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed spending her time. Vicki and Peter spent much of their time designing and building their dream retirement home in Atascadero.
She is survived by Peter Sousa, her husband of 58 years, of Ventura; her daughter and son-in- laws, Kathy and Mark Essary, daughter, Denise Cantor; Brenda and Troy Botelho and Wendy and Joseph Dunn, all of Ventura; grandchildren Jason, Juston, Julie and Joseph Essary, Devin and Dana Cantor, Christopher Botelho, Joie and Peter Dunn; great-grandchildren, Josie and Jamus Cable and Bailey and Deagan Mounsey; her brother, Rick Snoddy of Ventura; nieces, Valerie Carter and Mandy Wilson, Brie McAdams; nephew, Rich Perrelli. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nell and Richard Snoddy, sister, Barbara Nagy and granddaughter, Kendra Dunn.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 11, 6:00 P.M. with Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, May 12, 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church 3175 Telegraph Road, Ventura with the Reverend Steve Davoren officiating.
