

Virgil Elvan Stinson, 92, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was born March 3, 1921 in Pasco, Washington, to Otto Siegfried Stinson and Huldah Arvilla Scott and has resided in Ventura, California for 39 years.
Virgil graduated from Pasco High School, in Pasco, Washington in 1939. In May of 1948, he married Elaine Marjorie Lunde in Spokane, Washington. The couple moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1957, where daughters, Cheryl Lee Stinson and Lori Ann Stinson were born. In 1963, the family moved to Sylmar, California, where Virgil went to work at Atomics International and Elaine later went to work for San Fernando Electric.
In 1974, Virgil retired from Rockwell in Simi Valley and the family relocated to Ventura. They became active members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ventura where Virgil volunteered in many ways including: repairing toys for the preschool, church treasurer, maintaining the church pipe organ, and family to family. Additionally, he volunteered for the County Fair, VASA Lodge and Sons of Norway.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, of 62 years. Virgil is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Stinson and Lori Stinson; son-in-law, Wes Morrow; and grandson, Aidan Morrow.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 196 North Ashwood Avenue, Ventura, on Sunday, April 21, 2013, 12:30 P.M. The United States Navy will render military honors.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
