Whitney Renee Hansen

Whitney was born on August 9, 1962, in the city of Wahiawa on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. She was the youngest of four children born to Wayne and Bette Reeder. After having lived in Hawaii, Montana and Fort Ord, California the family settled down in Oxnard, in 1972, where Whitney graduated from Oxnard High in 1980. In 1983, she married Doug Hansen and they had two sons, Griffin and Dayne. Although they divorced after 12 years of marriage, Whitney and Doug remained good friends.

Whitney was an employee of Verizon for 19 years. She loved all things British, Scottish, Star Trek, and Star Wars. Whitney loved to bake and collect cookie jars, Fiesta Ware and fairies. She loved to read, and good cozy mysteries were her favorites. But most of all she loved her family and friends.

Whitney was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Reeder; and her brother, Jim Reeder. She is survived by her mother, Bette Hood of Gridley, CA; her beloved sons, Griffin his fiancée Jessica Pearson, and Dayne; grandson, Orion; granddaughter, Alex of Oxnard; her two sisters, Brenda Reeder, and Robin Adams; and niece Brittany Adams of Ventura.

Whitney had a kind heart, sharp wit, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 11:00 A.M., at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
