Toni, known to many as Nono, was born September 29, 1927 in Haney, BC to Giovanni Pozzobon and Elizabetta Sartori. He was a brother to William, Mary and Emma. He married the love of his life, Joan Brown, on June 7, 1958 at St. Andrews United Church in Haney.
Antonio grew up in the Fraser Valley, attending school in Vancouver before his father went to work in Trail at the coal mine while his mother stayed home to care for the family. Toni eventually chose to leave school & start work as his father’s health declined. Toni’s first job was making & repairing shoes in Vancouver’s east end. He then worked for McQuarrie Steel in Port Coquitlam where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime, and after leaving the Lower Mainland, Toni & Joan began a new chapter of farming & ranching in the Shuswap. They built several homes over the years and enjoyed fishing, camping and visiting with friends while spending their winters in Arizona before settling down in Armstrong & Vernon.
While rough around the edges, Nono had a gentle soul and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, teaching many values & skills that will stay with us forever. He enjoyed wood working and always had a fully equipped shop where he enjoyed building things from scratch. He taught discipline, honesty, hard-work and pride to his family and we are all eternally grateful to have shared our lives with him, and will especially miss sharing Root Beer and Fish & Chips with our Nono.
Toni was predeceased by his wife Joan Pozzobon, parents Giovanni & Elizabetta, sister Emma(Frank) Zunick, brother William(Flo) Pozzobon and niece Cathy Pozzobon.
Toni is survived by his sister Mary(Arnie) Mielty, daughters Lisa Scafe & Dave Hartwig, Lori(Brian) Bingham, grandchildren Kyle(Brittney)& Dustin(Kelsey) Scafe, Colby(Ashley) & Reece Bingham and great-grandchildren Gianna & Luca Scafe and Harlow & Maisie Bingham, family friends Kelly & Ted Weins, George & Karen Wilkinson, his special friend Bobbie Monkman and many Nieces & Nephews that will miss him dearly, among many others that our family will forever cherish.
