Beverly was born in Cowansville, Quebec. She lived in Knowlton, Quebec until her and her husband, Charles Jones, made the move to Vernon, BC over 20 years ago to be closer to family. It was a move she was incredibly excited for and was much anticipated by her family out west.
Beverly was proud of her first job as a Bell telephone operator and she later moved on to working at Clairol and remained there until she retired after over 35 years. She was a loyal employee with an outstanding work ethic, winning an award for not calling in sick or missing a day for over 25 years. Beverly made many life-long friends at Clairol because of her warm and caring personality.
When Beverly and Charlie settled in Vernon, BC she explored doing some volunteer work and found what she was looking for at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, assisting in the mammography department for over 10 years. She became a comforting and welcoming presence to many and because of this, staff found her indispensable.
Charlie and Beverly were always excited to check out any yard sales going on, she loved finding a cute hat or purse for her collection. They spent a lot of time just simply going for rides and enjoying the Okanagan beauty. She was a very good cook and made it look so easy. She had a love for music, from the 60s folk music like Bob Dylan and John Denver to classic country music like Johnny Cash. Her biggest love, however, was for Elvis Presley. She enjoyed watching his movies, buying his records and singing along to his many hits. On occasion she even danced with her great granddaughter Callie to Taylor Swift. Beverly was a voracious reader her whole life. Her favorite authors were Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson and Catherine Cookson. She enjoyed reading about the Royal Family, in particular Prince Harry who she had an innocent crush on. She would often comment about how fun of a date he would have made!
The one thing Beverly will be forever remembered for is for her love for her family. She said it often, I love you, but she also showed everyone how much she loved them. We will miss her phone calls, her caring demeanor, her ability to internally know if she needed to call and ask how you were doing. She was a comfort to everyone and you could tell her anything. Family shared their joys and accomplishments with Beverly and she was always so very supportive. She was a doting grandmother and great grandmother who was ready to help at a moment's notice. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a first rate storyteller. She would attract anyone's attention when she began a story. Her stories were entertaining and always funny. She was also not above a good prank when she knew she could get away with it. She had a playful, good-natured personality which we loved.
She was the heart and soul of our family. We will always strive to "do better than our best" just as she would have wished. We will forever miss her and will keep her memory alive in sharing stories of our own about her and honoring her loving role she had in our family.
Beverly had two daughters Dawn (Brent), and Kelly; grandchildren Melody, Bryan, Danielle; great-grandchildren Jackson, Callie and Everly; brother Dewey (Marilyn) and many other family members. Beverly has reunited with her husband Charlie, sisters Reba and Shirley, brothers Wayne, Ross, Bruce and parents Floyd and Florence.
We would like to thank her family doctor, Dr Tanya Redelinghuys and the following health care professionals, Stephen, Marion, Christine and Revin for their exceptional care and attention.
In lieu of a formal service, her family will be celebrating her life privately.
