With great sadness, we announce the passing of Brian James Jensen on December 10, 2025, in Vernon, British Columbia, after a very brief and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was 77 years old.
Brian was born on September 2, 1948, in Dorval, Quebec. He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Eileen Jensen (née Williams); his sister, Karen Jensen; and his wife, Rae Elizabeth Jensen (née Moore).
After graduating from McGill University with a degree in Physical Education and completing his Master of Science at the University of Oregon, Brian spent most of his career as a physical education teacher at Champlain College in St-Lambert, Quebec. He also spent many summers in Mont-Tremblant teaching tennis at Grey Rocks in the Laurentians and enjoyed active summers there with his family. He retired at 55, and in 2006 he moved to Vernon, British Columbia, with his wife Rae. Drawn by their shared love of mountain biking and hiking, they embraced everything else the Okanagan had to offer- skiing, golf and wine leading to many great new friendships.
He is survived by his three daughters: Jana (Sean Cassin), Kelly (Roger Sarrasin), and Cathy (Dave Viitakangas); as well as his seven grandchildren: Becca, Erika, Olivia, Anikka, Norah, Simon, and Soren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
A private gathering will be held in Vernon, British Columbia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, an organization close to their heart (www.nohs.ca).
