Caverly
1928-2012
With great sadness, we announce the passing of June Caverly at the Polson Extended Care Unit on January 1, 2012.
Predeceased in September 2011 by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth, and in 2004 by her twin sister, Jean Basler, June is
survived by her five children and their spouses: Cathy (Stan) Tully, Connie (Jim) Fenton, Ken (Brenda) Caverly, Tom (Sandra) Caverly, and Trish (Terry) Patrick. She was an enthusiastic Grandma Caverly to thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Marie Popham (Coquitlam) and Peggy Olson (Ladysmith) and
many nieces and nephews.
Born in Brandon, MB to Dr. James and Margaretta (Holmes) Campbell, June and the family moved to Winnipeg, where she and Ken met and married in 1951. The Caverly’s moved to Coldstream to their current home in 1965. At the time they had a large orchard, which June helped run while looking after her family. In retirement she became an excellent Bridge player while traveling with Ken throughout Canada and to Palm Springs, and hosted the constant flow of children, grandchildren, relatives and old friends from the Prairies, who were always welcomed into their home. Despite poor health during the last years of
her life, Mom never lost her cheerful outlook, teasing manner and loving nature, and she will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Okanagan Hospice or the charity of your choice. There will be a Memorial Service which has been tentatively set for March 2012. Further information will be forthcoming in the
Vernon Morning Star.
